Africa-Press – Angola. Fifty personnel from the National Police (PN) and the Border Guard, in the province of Uíge, started, Tuesday (08), a training seminar, to improve the performance and border security.

The province of Uíge shares a 442-kilometer land border with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where fuel smuggling is frequently reported, as well as the illegal entry of citizens into the country.

As part of the Training Programme, the four-day training will address the moral and psychological assurance of staff, new methodologies for acting at borders, among other topics.

Speaking to the press, the head of the Patriotic Education Department of the Border Guard Police in Angola, superintendent Vieira Carlos, said that the meeting aims to train the personnel, with a view to improving their performance.

In turn, the delegate of the Ministry of the Interior in Uíge, Commissioner Monteiro dos Santos, said that it is necessary to improve the working conditions of the staff, human reinforcement and operational capacity, in order to become efficient and effective in protecting borders, as well as maintaining the safety and tranquility of the population.

The training action counts with the participation of the second national commander of the Border Guard Police, heads and sub-chiefs of the IV Border Guard Brigade, members of the PN Council, PN and Border Guard officers.
