Africa-Press – Angola. Two hundred and fifty-two (252) diamonds of different carats were seized in the municipality of Lucapa, Lunda Norte province, by the National Police, as part of the operation “Raio X ao Bandidismo”.
The information was provided Tuesday, in Dundo, by the Chief Inspector of the Directorate for Investigation of Criminal Offenses (DIIP), Quintino Ferreira, stressing that the stones were in the possession of a 54-year-old citizen.
He said that the citizen, detained for the crime of possession and illicit trafficking in diamonds, intended to travel with the stones to the province of Lunda Sul.
He was detained on the banks of the Luo River and will be forwarded to the Public Ministry, for the formalization of the accusation.
The diamonds will be handed over to the Commission for Listing of “Operation Transparency”.
