Africa-Press – Angola. A tanker truck loaded with more than 25,000 liters of diesel fuel, destined for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), was seized on Monday by the National Police in the municipality of Ngoio, Cabinda province.

The information was given to the press on Tuesday by the municipal commander of the National Police in Ngoio, Chief Superintendent César Tati.

He explained that the truck was intercepted on Monday night in the Yabi border area, inside a thicket, where the alleged smugglers were transferring the product to 25, 30 and 200-liter containers.

During the operation, he said, a truck loaded with various goods destined for the DRC was also seized.

According to the corporation’s official, the geographical complexity of the Yabi border perimeter, surrounded by swamps, has facilitated the smuggling of fuel through clandestine routes.

“Despite this, the police authorities in the region remain engaged in combating the smuggling of petroleum products, to discourage this phenomenon,” he said.

Located in northern Angola, the province of Cabinda shares a vast land, sea and river border with its two neighboring countries: DRC and the Republic of Congo.
