Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, appointed this Friday, Manuel António Tiago Dias, to the post of governor of the National Bank of Angola (BNA), replacing José de Lima Massano.

Earlier, President João Lourenço exonerated Manuel António Tiago Dias from the position of deputy governor of the BNA, according to a note from the Press Secretary of the Presidential Palace.

Under the terms of the Constitution of the Republic, the governor of the BNA is appointed by the President of the Republic, after hearing in the National Assembly.

In its article 100, the Constitution stipulates that the hearing of the candidate is triggered by request of the President of the Republic and ends with the vote on the Opinion Report, under the terms of the law, with the President of the Republic being responsible for the final decision regarding the appointment of the proposed candidate. .

Manuel Tiago Dias, current interim governor of the BNA, was appointed by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, to take over the destinies of the Central Bank, replacing José de Lima Massano, who, at his request, recently left the mandate.

Manuel António Tiago Dias holds a Master’s Degree in Economic Sciences from the University of Bordeaux, in France.

He joined the BNA in 1997, where he held various positions until his appointment, in 2016, as deputy governor.

He also served as director of the Department of Statistics, sub-director of the Department of Studies and Statistics and head of the Division of Studies and Statistics.
