The Local Governance Council is the collegiate auxiliary body of the President of the Republic in the formulation and follow-up of the execution of the governance policies of the State Administration at local level.

Created through Presidential Legislative Decree no.3/17, of October 13, the Local Governance Council meets every six months and is directed by the President of the Republic, assisted by the Vice-President of the Republic.

It includes ministers of State, ministers, provincial governors, secretaries of the President of the Republic and the secretary of the Council of Ministers, among other entities linked to matters of local governance.

The agenda of the President of the Republic in Uíge includes a meeting with local authorities and a visit to the Agricultural Fair, which will expose the region’s potential in this economic field.

With more than one million inhabitants, the province of Uige has 16 municipalities, namely Ambuila, Bembe, Buengas, Bungo, Damba, Alto Cauale, Maquela do Zombo, Milunga, Mucaba, Negage, Puri, Quimbele, Quitexe, Sanza Pombo, Songo and Uige.

Agriculture and commerce are key sectors in Uíge, which was once considered the coffee capital of Angola.
