Africa-Press – Angola. The Head of State, João Lourenço, arrived in Luanda on Saturday, from Antananarivo, Madagascar, where he witnessed the inauguration of President Andry Rajoelina.
At 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, João Lourenço received welcome greetings from the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, among other personalities present for the purpose.
In Antananarivo, the Head of State held a formal meeting with his Malagasy counterpart, which aimed to strengthen bilateral relations.
Taking stock of the Angolan President’s visit, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tete António, recalled that João Lourenço also went to Madagascar as President of SADC.
He explained that these opportunities are also important to evaluate and take stock of bilateral relations.
In this sense, he added, the Angolan President had a bilateral meeting with his Malagasy counterpart where they reviewed relations between their two countries.
He said that relations are excellent from a political point of view, but that the two heads of state think it is possible to add more substance.
Tete Antonio said that the guidance received from the two Presidents is for diplomatic channels to work towards having delegations not only from the public sector, but also from the private sector.
João Lourenço was one of the six African heads of state present at Andry Rajoelina’s investiture ceremony.
