Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, held, this Monday, at the Presidential Palace, a private meeting with his counterpart from São Tomé and Príncipe, Carlos Vila Nova, with whom he discussed matters related to cooperation between the two countries.

Angola and São Tomé and Príncipe formalized cooperation on February 19, 1978, through the General Agreement of Friendship and Cooperation, following which several legal instruments were signed, aiming to promote and deepen economic, scientific, technical cooperation relations. and culture between the two countries.

A continuous act was formalized the Bilateral Joint Commission created in January 1980, which held its sixth and last session, in Luanda, in November 2007.

The two countries, which cooperate in the political, diplomatic and economic fields, are members of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) and of Portuguese Speaking African Countries (PALOP).

The Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe, an African island country near the equator, is part of a volcanic chain with impressive rocks and coral formations, as well as tropical forests and beaches.
