Africa-Press – Angola. The presence of Kenyan athletes is one of the key elements that added value to the São Silvestre 2022 pedestrian race, held on December 31st.

These words were expressed at the end of the 66th edition of the competition by the director of this event (66th edition), Jorge Cruz, adding that the participation of athletes from these countries, regardless of the difficulties, increased the level of expectations.

He added, on the other hand, that the issue of implementing electronic timing for the second consecutive time, will allow athletes to publish their marks and verification, without resorting to manual files.

This inspection model, he said, also motivates long-distance runners to compare their brands through the database that this option presents.

Jorge Cruz also mentioned that the time (31.00) with which the race ended was not expected, since the mark was a race in the 28 minutes.

The Kenyan, Raphael Olekei, is the winner of this 2022 edition, with a time of 31.00, dethroning the Angolan David Elias.

The athlete António Teko won the silver medal with a record of 31.18.

Bronze was won by Alexandre João, Angolan from Interclube (31.40), while Ernestina Paulino, also from the Police club, surpassed Kenyan Daisy Kipsugut (35.44).

Her teammate from the club, Adelaide Machado, took third place with a time of (36.39).

In the Paralympics (men), Sabino Tchipessi was ranked first (33.13), seconded by Manuel Jaime (33.30), while Pedro Samuel secured the third position (35.40), in the T 47 category.

In the female class, Anita Ngueve was the champion (48.03), Regina Paris was second (50.55), while Domingas Cristóvão was third (52.13).
