Africa-Press – Angola. The Head of State, João Lourenço, on Wednesday in Luanda stated that the oil sector must take an active role in creating internship opportunities and promoting access to first jobs for young Angolans, covering the entire industry value chain.
According to the Head of State, speaking at the opening of the 6th International Oil and Gas Conference, the Angolan population is predominantly young, therefore it is essential to harness the energy and creative potential of this section with the aim to serve the national economy, with policies that guarantee greater insertion in the job market.
João Lourenço, who was speaking about local content, emphasized that it assumes strategic importance in the sector, ensuring that the benefits of natural resources exploitation are shared fairly and sustainably with society.
He highlighted that the effective implementation of local content policies requires an ongoing commitment between the State, operating companies, investors and other private partners, in an environment in which the competence, quality and competitiveness of national companies are recognized and valued.
The event, which takes place under the motto “Angola at 50: Oil and Gas as an Engine of Development”, brings together oil industry executives from different segments, from exploration and production to distribution, representatives of national, regional and international companies, as well as ministers of the sectors from several countries.
