Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan President João Lourenço held a courtesy meeting Saturday with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, at the Organization’s headquarters in New York.

The meeting marked the beginning of a busy agenda for the Angolan head of state, who is in the United States of America to participate in the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.

At the end of the meeting, João Lourenço signed the institution’s guest book, highlighting the importance of the United Nations’ role in a context of great international uncertainty.

“It is always an honor to visit the United Nations Headquarters and to speak with Secretary-General António Guterres, with whom I was able to discuss the challenges facing this prestigious organization in the current world climate, with its turmoil and a context of uncertainty and unpredictability that concerns us all,” wrote the Head of State.

In the same message, the President of the Republic expressed his encouragement about the convergence of views and the prospect of greater commitment from the international community to preserving world peace.
