Africa-Press – Angola. The president of the MPLA, João Lourenço on Saturday advocated for the strengthening road safety education for young people, given the high number of accidents recorded on the country’s roads, many of them with serious or fatal consequences for young drivers.
Speaking at the central event commemorating the 69th anniversary of the MPLA, João Lourenço stated that loss of emotional control and irresponsible driving are among the main causes of road accidents.
Therefore, he said that it is the responsibility of the State, families, and society, jointly, to educate young people for responsible driving.
He pointed to the Ministry of the Interior as one of the key actors in this effort.
João Lourenço also warned about the risks associated with driving high-powered vehicles, as this type of car should not be driven by drivers without the necessary technical preparation and maturity.
Thousands of activists packed the area adjacent to the future Burn Hospital in the Kilamba Centrality to celebrate the MPLA’s 69th anniversary.
