Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic of Namibia, Nangolo Mbumba, arrived in Luanda this Monday, for a 48-hour working visit, with a view to strengthening relations between the two countries.
At 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, the statesman received welcome greetings from the Angolan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António.
According to the visit program, this Monday Nangolo Mbumba will hold a private meeting with his Angolan counterpart, João Lourenço, at the Presidential Palace.
Later today, the Namibian Head of State has scheduled a visit to the Karam Industrial LTD Factory, located in the Viana Industrial Complex, which produces copper, aluminum, steel and PVC material, with emphasis on the production of low and medium voltage electrical cables. which have been exported to Namibia.
On Tuesday, the last day of the visit, Nangolo Mbumba will learn about the operation of the SONILS (Sonangol Integrated Logisitic Services) base.
Nangolo Mbumba became President of the Republic on February 4, following Hage Geingob’s physical death on the same date.
Angola and Namibia established diplomatic relations on September 18, 1990, with embassies in the respective capitals (Luanda and Windhoek) and consulates.
Between the two States there are cooperation agreements in several areas, notably visa exemptions, Defense and Security, Industry, Commerce, Energy and Water, Fisheries, Tourism and Transport.
A Bilateral Agreement on the Movement of People and Goods, signed in 1992, is also in force, which provides, among other aspects, the free movement of Angolans and Namibians within a radius of 60 kilometers along the border.
