Africa-Press – Angola. The president of the National Assembly (AN), Carolina Cerqueira, Wednesday in Lubango defended more investment to transform Tundavala into a real tourist destination, with a view to promoting Angola’s image in Africa and the world.
The parliamentarian reacted, at the end of a visit to the Tundavala area, with her counterpart from South Sudan, Jemma Kumba, after the provincial governor of Huíla, Nuno Mahapi, had presented a project to use the site.
This is a project to promote tourism in the area, without losing its character, valued at US$50 million, which includes the construction of a cable car, a 25-metre glass elevator, restaurant, cafés, camping site, toll booth, among others. infrastructure, to attract more travelers to Huíla, both national and international.
Currently, there is no infrastructure on site, but studies are underway to bring electricity and water to Tundavala, a process developed with the central authorities.
Carolina Cerqueira said that the beauty of Tundavala remains, which is why it should be better exploited so that it generates revenue for the province, which requires tourist developments, such as restaurants, hotels and similar and profitable structures.
He stated that if the project is carried out, the area could serve as a circulation route for Lubango and Namibe, making the area a great attraction and attracting funds to develop tourism in the region.
Carolina Cerqueira guaranteed that the AN will be an advocate in raising these funds, showing the initiative to the delegations that come to the country that it is good to invest in Angola, to know the natural beauties that so amaze travelers.
“It is a private project, therefore, we have to attract investment for Angola to make itself known to the world, so that they know our table, culture and idiosyncrasy. We, with great pleasure, accept to be an ambassador of this important project”, reinforced .
Its counterpart in South Sudan, on the other hand, considered Tundavala as an important resource for the province, so it should be used in the best way.
“We heard from the governor that it will be developed into a tourist centre, and I believe it will bring a lot of revenue to the province, and the next time we come here, we hope to pay, so that we can get there”, he said.
