The Forum of Parliaments of Member States of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (FP-CIRGL) is mobilizing synergies to maintain peace, by facilitating dialogue in conflict zones, he said this Wednesday at the Lubango, Huíla province, the president of the body, Jemma Kumba.

Speaking at the end of a visit to Huíla, as part of her stay in Angola, the parliamentarian said that the focus of the Forum is to bring peace and stability to the region, so the members intend to appeal to the parties in conflict to give space for dialogue prevail peace.
He made it known that an International Conference on the Great Lakes Region, in Angola, is due to take place this year, to discuss solutions to these conflicts.
“And our president, of South Sudan, is mediating the conflict in Sudan and as a parliament we are working together to resolve these issues,” he said.
In turn, the President of the Angolan Parliament, Carolina Cerqueira, said that the National Assembly is developing several parliamentary forums to monitor the dynamics of the intervention of the Head of State, João Lourenço, in relation to conflict resolution.
Carolina Cerqueira referred that Angola has strengthened its position in the Great Lakes Region, the Community of Southern African Countries (SADC), the French-speaking countries, although it is not a French-speaking country, but is an observer of all geopolitical organizations in the region. .
The President of the Parliamentary Forum of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region and her delegation have been in the country since the 21st of the current month. In Huíla, the two parliamentarians held a meeting with the governor of Huíla, Nuno Mahapi, visited Fenda da Tundavala and the Metalosul industry.
The Parliamentary Forum of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region is an inter-parliamentary organization that brings together national parliaments from the 12 member states of the ICGLR, namely Angola, Burundi, Central African Republic (CAR), Congo, Kenya, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Rwanda, South Sudan, Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania and Zambia.
The FP-CIRGL was established on December 4, 2008, in Kigali, Rwanda, following the signing of the Interparliamentary Agreement. The body comprises the Plenary Assembly, the Plenary Assembly Bureau, the Conference of Presidents, the Executive Committee, Commissions and the General Secretariat.
Angola was officially invited to be a member of the Parliamentary Forum of the Conference on the Great Lakes Region in January 2013. It joined the body in November 2014.
