Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Angolan Athletics Federation (FAA), Bernardo João, recognized (Sunday), in the country’s capital, the need for more work, so that Angola can remove the hegemony of foreign athletes in São Silvestre de Luanda.

Speaking to the press, at the end of the race, in which Namibians Daniel Paulus (29: 32) and Helalia Johannes (34:08), both sexes, won, the leader stated that the Angolan António Teko was short of victory, after initially having commanded the 10 kilometer race, and only crossing the finish line in fourth.

He added that the aforementioned national athlete (Bichos-do-Mato team), with a time of 30:31, in fourth position, in men’s, is an indicator that there is still a little more work left and the federation will continue to invest in the partnership of clubs, so that in the coming years, Angolan athletes can reach the 28-minute mark.

Regarding the organization, he considered it positive, in that it managed to fulfill what was promised, in terms of guaranteeing prizes and medals for the participants.

Despite this, Bernardo João regretted the absence of some countries, which did not come to the competition, but those that did provided the same quality, both male and female, in which the Angolan Ernestina Paulino (Interclube) managed to reach third position, with time from 35:38.
