Deputies to the National Assembly approved, this Thursday, the Draft Law on Legislative Authorization to allow the President of the Republic to regulate the regime for the preparation, approval and execution of the program of the second General Census of Population and Housing, in 2024.
The draft legislative authorization authorizing the Head of State to legislate on the legal regime of the General Population and Housing Census was approved with 122 votes in favor and one against.
The Secretary of State for Planning, Milton Reis, said that the initiative submitted to Parliament was intended to request that the President of the Republic establish the basic legal framework for the second census to be carried out, in 2024, when it completes 10 years. of carrying out the first population census in Angola after independence.
In 2014, Angola carried out its first General Population and Housing Census after independence, in 1975, having found a total of 25,789,024 inhabitants, of which 6,945,386 resided in Luanda.
