Africa-Press – Angola. The Head of State, João Lourenço, congratulated, this Monday (25), on behalf of the Angolan Executive and on his own, the President-elect of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, who was reappointed on Sunday.
In a statement, the President of the Republic said that he is convinced that the victory achieved in the last elections reflects the will and firm determination of the French people to maintain the French Republic as an important axis in the construction of a united and cohesive Europe, capable of ensuring , especially in these difficult times, the stability and security necessary for the consolidation of the development process of the old continent.
“I am hopeful that, in the course of this new mandate, our two countries will materialize, in a practical way, the prospects of bilateral cooperation, with results that favor the progress and prosperity of our peoples. Your noble and difficult mission to guide the destiny of the French Nation in the coming years”, writes the Head of State.
In another statement, João Lourenço also congratulated the people, the Portuguese Government and its President, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, on the day of the Carnation Revolution celebrated yesterday in the Portuguese Republic.
In this regard, he welcomed this important date in Portugal’s recent history, which paved the way, in conjunction with the struggle of the peoples of the former Portuguese colonies, for the construction of the vibrant democracy that was implanted in that country and for the rescue of freedom and the Independence of the peoples.
“I am pleased to see that our countries maintain dynamic and fruitful cooperation with each other, and with strong prospects of continuously deepening, in the present and in the future, of relations between Angola and Portugal”, said the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.
