Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, returned Sunday, to Luanda, after having made a state visit to Italy.
Upon arrival, the Head of State received greetings from the President of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, and members of the Executive.
During his visit, political and diplomatic relations between Angola and Italy were strengthened, having held meetings with the most distinguished national entities, with emphasis on his counterpart Sergio Mattarella.
Within the framework of the same, the two States signed several cooperation agreements, with emphasis on the fields of oil, transport, finance, health and education.
At the Italian Parliament, João Lourenço met with the leader of the Senate, Ignacio La Russa, and with the president of that sovereign body, Lorenzo Fontana.
The Angolan statesman was decorated by President Sergio Mattarella with the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, and on the same occasion, he awarded the Agostinho Neto Order to his counterpart and the First Lady, Laura Mattarella.
The occasion also served to participate in the Italy-Angola Economic Forum, organized by the business association Confindustria Assafrica in collaboration with the Private Investment and Export Promotion Agency (AIPEX).
