Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, held meetings with representatives of religious and business entities in Cabinda on Monday as part of his 48-hour working visit to the province.

In statements to the press, the spokesperson for the Presidency of the Republic, Luís Fernando, reported that the Head of State received in audience the Bishop of the Diocese of Cabinda, Dom Belmiro Cuica Chissenguete, and the representative of the Angolan Christian Forum (FCA), Benjamim Zuzi.

As part of his agenda in Cabinda, the Head of State also granted audiences with the President of the Cabinda Business Association, André Amorim, the President of the Cabinda Women’s Business Association (ASSOMECA), Lina Sambo, and the head of the Cabinda Agricultural Cooperative, José Domingos Liberal.

According to the spokesperson, the representatives presented concerns to the Head of State regarding the well-being of the local population, highlighting the need for investment in technical and vocational training for young people.

“What is requested is the creation of conditions for young people to have access to short-term technical courses, which will allow them to quickly enter the job market,” he emphasized.

In the economic sphere, the business leaders advocated for state support for the local processing of products such as timber, cocoa, and oil palm, with a view to adding value and boosting the province’s economy.

According to Luís Fernando, the topics raised will be followed up in subsequent meetings with officials from the economic and financial sectors of the Executive, namely the Ministry of Economy and Planning, the Ministry of Finance, and the Development Bank of Angola (BDA).
