Africa-Press – Angola. The National Consumer Price Index (IPCN) registered a variation of 0.81% from June to July this year, with a deceleration of 0.03 percentage points.
In year-on-year terms (July 2021 to July 2022), the IPCN registered a deceleration in the current variation of 1.29 percentage points, according to the Rapid Information Sheet (FIR) published, this Monday, by the National Statistics Institute (Instituto Nacional de Estatística). INE).
The year-on-year change stood at 21.40 percent, registering a decrease of 4.32 percentage points compared to that observed in the same period of the previous year (July 2021).
If compared with the current year-on-year change, with that registered in the previous month, there is a deceleration of 1.56 percentage points, according to the publication.
In the period in question, the provinces of Moxico (0.57 percent), Uíge (0.62) and Namibe (0.68) registered the lowest variation in prices.
Unlike the aforementioned regions, the provinces of Zaire (1.19 percent), Cunene (1.16) and Cuanza Norte (1.06) registered the greatest change in prices.
By expense categories, “education” registered the biggest increase in prices, with a variation of 3.50 percent, followed by “clothing and footwear” (1.68), “health” (1, 64) and “alcoholic beverages and tobacco” (1.40).
Contributing to the increase in the general level of prices, the classes of “food and non-alcoholic beverages” with 0.36 percentage points, followed by “education” with 0.08 percentage points, “diverse goods and services” with 0.07 percentage points. percentages.
The list also includes the classes of “clothing and footwear”, “health”, “furniture, household equipment and maintenance” with 0.06 percentage points each.
The remaining classes had contributions of less than 0.06 percentage points, according to INE’s FIR.
For Luanda province, in particular, the general level of the Consumer Price Index registered a variation of 0.71 percent from June to July 2022.
Comparing the monthly changes (June to July 2022), there is a deceleration of 0.05 percentage points while, in year-on-year terms (July 2021 to July 2022), there is a deceleration in the current rate of change of 1 .57 percentage points.
The “education” class registered the biggest price increase with 5.73 percent, in addition to the “alcoholic beverages and tobacco” (1.93), “clothing and footwear” (1.82) and “health ” (1.77).
The current structure of the National Consumer Price Index in Angola is based on 732 goods and services, based on data from the Survey on Expenses and Income (IDR) carried out by INE, from February 2018 to March 2018. 2019, covering urban and rural areas of all provinces, for a total of 12,448 households.
