Africa-Press – Angola. Angola assumes, today, in Luanda, for a two-year term, the presidency of the ministers dealing with gender equality issues in the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), replacing Cape Verde.

The minister of Social Action, Family and Promotion of Women, Faustina Alves, who assumes the functions, announced, for today, the analysis of the themes for the Angolan mandate, among which she pointed out the empowerment of women, protection of families, inclusion and income generation.

Faustina Alves, who was speaking at the end of a meeting with the Minister of State for the Social Area, Carolina Cerqueira, said that children and the elderly will also be one of the focuses of Angola’s action program, upon assuming the presidency of the CPLP ministers. that care for gender equality.

Cape Verde’s Minister of State for the Family, Inclusion and Social Development, Fernando Elísio Freire, said that he is pleased to come to Angola to present the presidency’s testimony.

One of the essential focuses of the meeting with the Minister of State for Social Affairs, he said, was also the analysis of economic decision-making autonomy, as there is a need to increase the level of parity in political participation and allow families to have economic independence. .

“We have to increase parity in political participation, invest in families, in order to have an increasingly tolerant society that promotes peace policy”, he defended.

For the Cape Verdean minister, it is necessary to have a society capable of giving opportunities to all, women and men. “CPLP policies must have gender mainstreaming. We have to educate families and people to give everyone equal opportunities”, he insisted.

After the audience, the ministers visited some projects for the empowerment of young women, at the Precol Vocational Training Centre, in the urban district of Rangel, in Luanda. Just yesterday, the ministers dealing with issues related to Gender Inclusion in the CPLP were received by the President of the National Assembly, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos.
