Africa-Press – Angola. The provincial director of Culture, Tourism and Youth and Sports, Osvaldo Lunda, considered, on Tuesday, in Lubango, that the province of Huíla has taken another step towards the promotion of cinema.
Osvaldo Lunda, who witnessed the inauguration of the Provincial Nucleus of the Angolan Association of Cinema and Audiovisual Professionals (APROCIMA), was pleased that Huíla was the first province to create the Provincial Nucleus of APROCIMA, eight years after the creation of the association.
In his view, this fact demonstrates the will and interest that Huilas have in cinema. “For some time now, we have had some discussions about activities related to cinema, now, with APROCIMA here, we have everything to carry out the Angolan Film Festival (Fecina), an event that suffered some cancellations because of Covid-19”.
The provincial director informed that when he realized the need for APROCIMA to have a space in Huíla, the Directorate of Culture made an effort and got an office, where it should work, initially, “then we will have to work to see what we can do best”.
Osvaldo Lunda highlighted training programs as a priority, having announced that as of today, and within the scope of the World Day of Audiovisual Heritage, the Lubango Media Library will host a seminar on “Cinema and Television”, on the 3rd of November, the be given by the director and producer Óscar Gil.
He recognized that the emergence of good artists, good actors, directors and film producers must go through training, on the other hand, he said that Huíla’s focus is on training workshops (seminars), “which should be given here in Lubango and I think that APROCIMA is available to help us, because the Provincial Government of Huíla has its doors open for us to do this, it only requires work, to make cinema, in Huíla, gain more attention”.
The director of Culture in Huíla congratulated the newly sworn in and thanked the director Óscar Gil, “for having given this strength to the association and you can count on us to do our part in the dissemination of national cinema, particularly Huila, to all corners”.
The newly appointed coordinator, Delfino Pedro Ndalila, who began by recalling APROCIMA’s slogan, according to which “cinema expands knowledge, cinema unveils universes”, stressed that cinema is one of the arts in which one does not work individually.
Although the Nucleus is made up of five members, the coordinator affirmed the need for everyone to collaborate, whether public or private institutions, cultural associations, producers, so that we can do “things that are worthwhile, to dynamize, to promote , and create different activities that can give energy and weight, which Huíla wants for the cinema”.
He thanked the support of the Provincial Government of Huíla for the effort made to carry out the installation of the APROCIMA Nucleus in Huíla.
Delfino Ndalila (coordinator), Maria Alice (Secretary for Documents and Archives), Creuma Zenaida (Secretary for Administration and Finance), Rosário Domingos (Secretary for Communication and Protocol), Arcanjo Moçambique (Secretary for Training and Overcoming) took office.
