Public Managers Instructed to be more Rigorous in Reporting

Africa-Press – Angola. Public managers in the province of Huambo were instructed by the provincial governor to be more rigorous in reporting on the project portfolio for the current financial year.Pereira Alfredo made the call during the opening of the 12th Ordinary Session of the Provincial Government, in which he requested punctuality in the presentation of accounts, which should be demanding, in order to promote greater transparency, since the 2024 financial year and some legal diplomas confer the obligation to present accounts at least until the first quarter of 2025.

The governor warned that the Festive Season cannot prevent managers from being responsible for presenting accounts, in order to have more discipline, authority and commitment to the quality of the management of public affairs.

The official believes that, in the next financial year, it will be necessary to make a strict schedule, which leads to checking, to the millimeter, the deadlines of the statutory regulation programming.

Pereira Alfredo considered the 2024 financial year to be positive, carried out collectively and also welcomed the results achieved.

“During the year that is about to end, several matters were implemented, regarding social and economic life and other projects that highlight the 2025 budget proposal, approved by the National Assembly”, he said.Regarding the budget allocated to the province, he said that it will be implemented in various social sectors, with emphasis on Education, Health, Energy and Water, road infrastructure and many other areas.

Several projects included in the Integrated Municipal Intervention Plan (PIIM), the governor added, were successfully completed, especially some that were previously paralysed or progressing slowly.

211 PIIM projects completed

The governor reported that the Integrated Municipal Intervention Plan (PIIM) in the province of Huambo has registered 305 projects, of which 289 are eligible, and 211 have been completed and are already serving the communities.

The concern, he said, is with 24 projects and actions that are awaiting completion, which is why an effort will be made in 2025 to ensure that they are completed and made available to the population.

Emergency Plan

Pereira Alfredo recalled that the Emergency Plan works are currently underway, which aim to restore the road network in the cities of Caála and Huambo, as well as the town of Bailundo, and then continue with work in other municipal towns.According to the governor, the actions grouped into fundamental areas, namely the environment (gardens and urban furniture), public lighting, infrastructures, improvement of basic sanitation, among others, will be completed during the first quarter of 2025.

The province of Huambo, with a territorial extension of 35,771 square kilometres, has an estimated population of over two million and 800 thousand inhabitants, distributed across the municipalities of Bailundo, Caála, Cachiungo, Chicala-Cholohanga, Chinjenje, Ecunha, Huambo, Londuimbali, Longonjo, Mungo and Ucuma.

From January 2025, it will no longer have 11 municipalities and will have 17 municipalities, within the scope of the new Political-Administrative Division, which resulted in the elevation to this category of the communes of Alto-Hama, Bimbe, Chilata, Cuima, Galanga and Samboto.
