Africa-Press – Angola. Several works in progress throughout the country, with emphasis on the rehabilitation and construction of roads, will be completed in 2026, announced Monday (01), in the municipality of Cabiri, province of Icolo e Bengo, the minister of Public Works, Urban Development , Carlos Albino dos Santos.
The governor gave this information during the opening speech of the 10th Advisory Council of the Ministry, which runs until Tuesday (2), under the theme: “The challenges of Public Works, Urban Planning and Housing in improving the quality of life of citizens”.
On the occasion, the minister announced that several works in Icolo and Bengo are in good progress, waiting for the completion of three thousand houses in the towns of Cabiri and Ngolome, of the Catete/Cabala/Muxima section, of the National Road 110, with 620 km of the Muxima/Demba section Chio/Mumbondo/Caxarandanda, on the same road with 141 km, of the Catete/Maria Teresa section, on the National Road 230, with 60 km, as well as the road that connects the market of km30 to the Logistics Distribution Center and Avenida Fidel Castro.
It is also planned the start of the rehabilitation of the National Road 110, in the Kifangondo/Funda/Catete section, with an extension of 68 km and a study for the creation of a portage area in Kifangondo, joining the elaboration of the master plans of the municipalities of Catete and Cabiri, Bom Jesus.
During his speech, he raised the challenge of prioritizing some works in 2026, such as, the completion of the Convention Center and the respective infrastructures, the Boa Vista/Kimakienda (Luanda) road, in order to continue the construction works of the Corimba margin.
For the province of Bengo, priorities must be discussed for the start of the integrated infrastructure project in the city of Caxito, the start of the road ring road and the preservation of the main roads linking the provinces of Uige and Zaire.
In the province of BieĢ, the works of the National Road 250, the Kunji/Catabola and Camacupa section and the demolition of buildings at structural risk will begin.
Already, for the province of Cabinda, work will continue on the Cabinda/Miconje road and complete the second phase of the integrated infrastructures.
Similar interventions are expected in the provinces of Cuando, Cubango, Northern Cuanza, Southern Cuanza, Cunene, Huambo, Huila, Northern Lunda, Southern Lunda, Malanje, Moxico, Eastern Moxico, Namibe and Uige.
According to the minister, he has as a priority, in the institutional field, the future construction of highways, which ensure the connection of Angola with the neighboring republics, prioritizing the north/south road circuit, and the subsequent connection of the coast to the east.
The advisory council – which brings together directors of provincial offices of infrastructures – is to analyze, on this first day, in two panels, among other topics, the point of view of the situation of the actions, containment and stabilization of natural risks “ravines, maritime works and rivers”, the construction program and rehabilitation, as well as the maintenance and conservation of road infrastructures.
