Africa-Press – Angola. Scheduled for the 23rd and 24th of June, according to Luísa Grilo, the exams will take place simultaneously throughout the country, focusing on the subjects of Portuguese Language and Mathematics.

The Ministry of Education (MED) will carry out pilot exams next month in all provinces to assess the quality of education in the country, the minister said yesterday in Luanda.

Luísa Grilo said that the process will be conducted by the National Institute for Development and Accreditation of Education (INADE), in coordination with the Institute for Educational Assessment of Portugal (IAVE).

The study, he continued, will have as a sample a universe of two thousand students from the 6th and 12th grades, equivalent to an average of 56 classes.

The evaluation, which is intended to be on a large scale, according to the Minister of Education, will focus on the entire education process, including the teaching staff, manuals and teaching programmes.

Scheduled for the 23rd and 24th of June, according to Luísa Grilo, the exams will take place simultaneously throughout the country, focusing on the subjects of Portuguese Language and Mathematics.

“What we want is that the student, when leaving the Education System, has the necessary skills and not just a diploma”, he said.

For Luísa Grilo, the chosen classes, as they are transitional, will allow assessing the skills with which Angolan students complete the 6th and 12th grades.

The exam will be implemented in public and private schools and will serve as a barometer for the restructuring of public education policies.

Duly selected and trained teachers and directors will be part of the evaluation process.
