Africa-Press – Angola. Families in the municipality of Quilengues, Huíla province, are investing in reinforcing productive economic initiatives such as agriculture, small business development and the raising of small animals, thanks to Kwenda Social Monetary Transfers.

In the municipality, 18 thousand 342 families are since the 17th of the current month, receiving their fourth and last installment, in which, for the most part, the value is used to reinforce activities for the sustainability of the members of the household.

For the beneficiary, José Faria, the amounts arrived at a time when he was having a lot of difficulties, without income to help at home, but when he received the first installment, he bought pigs and goats that are already reproducing.

He also mentioned having purchased at least five chickens and roosters, and currently has reached 23 units, the idea is to continue to multiply to have a more solid source of income.

Teresa Kandona, another beneficiary, thanked the project, as since it appeared the lack of hunger has diminished, having opted to buy seeds, pigs and goats, an initiative that she hopes will continue to support vulnerable communities.

João Haipapa, who has two wives and 20 children, channeled the funds, like others in the municipality, into the acquisition of goats, pigs and seeds, despite having used another part of the amount for medical assistance and medicines for his children.

In turn, Isabel Fina, in addition to the goat and pig that are already reproducing, bought some products from the basic basket, which will be reinforced with the next installment, so she would like Kwenda to continue so that they do not go through the lack of food experienced before of the project.

Another beneficiary, Madalena Miguel, bet on the purchase of household appliances and food, as well as the purchase of four kids for reproduction.

About the course of the program, the FAS-Huíla assistant, Feliciano Tchenda, referred that the balance is positive, the families, in addition to investing in agriculture, in the development of small businesses and raising small animals, are acquiring school materials for the children and basic basket products.

“We are pleased because with this support they are taking a step in their lives and we call on the families to continue to apply the values in the best possible way, because the most important thing is the sustainability of the programme”, he said.

He complained that at least 500 people had their multicaixa cards lost, a situation that the Local Development Institute-FAS is monitoring so that the said families do not run out of their installment.

In the province of Huíla, 94,018 households have been registered so far, in the municipalities of Cacula, Gambos, Humpata and Quilengues, having already benefited 69,435, with a global value of 3 billion 886 million 098 thousand kwanzas.
