Africa-Press – Angola. The Remar association requested, this Tuesday, help from the National Assembly (AN) to deal with the increase in admissions to the reception and rehabilitation center for drug addicts in Luanda, which houses around 280 people, mostly children.

Speaking to the press, at the end of a meeting with the third vice-president of Parliament, Raul Lima, the executive director of Remar, António Martins, said that children who arrive at the center, through social action and PN, are lost , mistreated, accused of witchcraft and raped by their own family members.

He informed that the center supports one hundred drug-addicted adults who benefit from rehabilitation treatment and single mothers.

The person in charge said that they need space to open another center, food, medicines, among other goods, to meet the needs of the people they receive.

He expressed concern about many young people turning to alcohol and drugs, with their families frequently requesting help from the center.

António Martins said he had received a positive response from the legislative body, which promised to send a delegation to find out about the center’s conditions and needs.

The executive director revealed that, since 1996, Remar has treated more than 50 patients who are now decently reintegrated into society, have started families and own their assets.

In Angola since 1996, Remar is a Non-Governmental Organization that provides educational and health programs for people struggling with alcohol and drug addiction, giving them the opportunity to become useful people in society.

The Non-Governmental Organization is also present in 74 countries around the world.
