Africa-Press – Angola. Since Wednesday (23) the meeting of the national coordinators of the International Conference of the Great Lakes Region (CIRGL) has been taking place in Luanda, under the guidance of Ambassador Miguel César Domingos Bembe, national coordinator of the Republic of Angola and president of the organization’s national coordinators.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the status of contributions from Member States, the Report of the Executive Secretariat of the CIRGL and the Report on the next retreat of the national coordinators concerning the Strategic Plan for May 2022.

This meeting’s main objective is to prepare the work agenda of the 17th Ordinary Session of the Regional Interministerial Committee (CRIM), taking place in virtual format today and tomorrow.

This event is attended by multisectoral delegations from the different ministerial departments of the Government of Angola, such as National Defense and Veterans of the Homeland, Finance, Social Action, Family and Women Promotion, Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, in addition to experts from the External Intelligence Service (SIE). ).

The executive secretary of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region, Angolan João Samuel Caholo, also took part in the meeting.

CIRGL members are Angola, Burundi, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan, South Sudan, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Zambia, Kenya and Republic of Congo.

The International Conference on the Great Lakes Region is an intergovernmental organization of the countries of the Great Lakes Region of Africa, whose creation was based on the recognition that political instability and conflicts in these nations have a considerable regional dimension and require a concerted effort. , both to promote peace and sustainable development.
