Africa-Press – Angola. The citizens of Calandula, today asked the provincial government to resolve social problems linked to the water, energy, health, education and roads sectors, with a view to improving their living conditions and the integral development of the municipality.

The request was presented to the provincial governor of Malanje, Marcos Nhunga on the sidelines of the municipal council for consultation with communities held this Thursday (9), which aimed to find out about the socio-economic situation of Calandula.

The mayor of Ngola-a-Mbande, António Andrade Agostinho, who was speaking on behalf of the traditional authorities, explained that the rehabilitation of secondary and tertiary roads should be a priority, as it allows for development through trade and promotion of the manufacturing industry.

In turn, Mother Teresa José, on behalf of the religious institutions, reinforced the call for the resolution of health problems and the construction of a morgue, since the locality does not have this service and the corpses are transferred to the Regional Hospitals of Malanje and Municipal de Cacuso for conservation.

Provincial governor Marcos Nhunga, similarly to what has been registered in other municipal councils for consultation with communities, which is carried out in the interior of the province, expressed the government’s intention to work towards the gradual resolution of the problems presented.

The governor’s visit to the municipality of Calandula comes after the radiography of the municipalities of Malanje.

Calandula occupies an area of ​​7,37 square kilometres, with 464 villages and 18 districts and has an estimated population of 100,000 inhabitants, spread across the municipalities of Cota, Cuale, Kinje, Cateco Cangola and Sede.
