Africa-Press – Angola. Residents of the centrality of Capari asked, this weekend, the governor of Bengo, Maria Nelumba, to improve basic sanitation, public lighting and the supply of drinking water.
In a meeting with the minister, residents also pointed out the lack of bank branches, sports courts, markets, shops, maintenance of green spaces, public changing rooms and public security and the intensification of patrolling by the National Police.
They requested the construction of a new school, a health centre, a technical and professional training centre, a space for a wake, public transport and a community children’s centre.
In response, Governor Maria Antónia Nelumba said that the government will continue to work towards a gradual resolution of the problems, with the collaboration of all residents, in order to transform Capari into a modern centrality.
He said that some concerns such as the supply of water, electricity, basic sanitation, security, health and school should be resolved soon.
He appealed for the participation of the residents in the resolution of several problems related to the coexistence between the citizens, to the knowledge of each one of the reality for the local development.
He said he had asked the Housing Development Fund for a plan for the technical sector of the government to carry out a study to find space for the construction of leisure areas and other equipment for the benefit of the centrality.
He recalled that in the context of proximity governance, there is an urgent need to make some adjustments in terms of organization of the centrality that passes in the constitution of residents’ committees provided for by law.
Developed in a total area of 90.5 hectares, the centrality of Capari was designed for 4,000 dwellings, providing for an estimated population of 24,000 inhabitants.
It includes T3 apartment blocks, with two variants (A and B), in buildings with two floors each, and is managed by the municipal administration and some representatives of residents.
