Responsible announces water distribution in Mucari

Africa-Press – Angola. The vice-governor of Malanje for the Technical and Infrastructure sector, Angelino Quissonde, announced, in Mucari, the entry into operation in the next few days of the first system for collecting, treating and distributing drinking water for the municipal headquarters.

The official made this announcement during the provincial celebration of the 4th of February, the Day of the Beginning of the Armed Struggle for National Liberation, highlighting that the investment will benefit around seven thousand inhabitants of the municipal headquarters.

He explained that while waiting for this project, the municipality received, three small water systems, in the Pandi, Xissa and Clemente neighborhoods and a Municipal Library, built within the scope of the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM).

He made it known that in addition to this, the residents of Mucari will also benefit from electricity from the public network, from the Laúca dam, since the region is powered by generator sets.

He said that the arrival of this service could take approximately two years, due to its complexity, but the works have already been assigned to a contractor.

According to the official, the government is aware of the population’s problems, which is why it has been working hard to resolve them.

However, he highlighted that another concern relates to attention to former combatants, a group that contributed greatly to the national liberation struggle, which is why everything has been done for their social integration, through actions that generate self-income.

For this reason, he said, through the Provincial Delegation of Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland, one thousand 764 former combatants are assisted, as guerrillas, political prisoners, underground militants and politicians, while efforts are made to classify those who for some reason they still do not benefit from assistance.

The event on the 4th of February was preceded by a lecture on the anniversary, given by the Provincial Delegate of Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland, Ananias Gomes, who on the occasion highlighted the heroism of the Angolans who stopped colonialism, in the face of the repression to which they were subjected..

Under the motto “Preserving the values of the country, let us honor our heroes”, the celebrations of the 63rd anniversary of the Beginning of the Armed Struggle for National Liberation were also marked with the raising of the flag of the Republic and the laying of a wreath at the tomb of the unknown soldier, in the city of Malanje.
