Africa-Press – Angola. The deputy governor of Malanje for the Political, Social and Economic sector, Franco Mufinda, appealed, in this city, to churches and citizens, to cultivate forgiveness during coexistence in communities, to build a society healthy.

According to the official, tolerance should be the watchword among people, based on the preponderant role of religious institutions in promoting peace and disseminating citizens’ cultural, moral and civic values.

Franco Mufinda made this appeal during the 1st Provincial Forum on Religious Leadership in Malanje, which discussed, among other aspects, the relationship between the State and the church, as well as religious phenomena, including the proliferation of sects.

He highlighted that the church must be a mirror for the population, because with its good messages and preaching, it changes behavior.

He said that with unity and work, religious leaders are capable of forging a more inclusive, fairer and more harmonious future for citizens, which is why churches are called to be closer to communities.

In this sanda, he specified that mutual respect and respect for religious leaders must be taken into account to achieve this goal, towards building cooperation and social cohesion.

In turn, the representative of the Council of Christian Churches in Angola (CICA), in Malanje, Júlio António lamented the religious phenomena that have been occurring in recent times, especially the emergence of illegal churches, which promote false prophecies, accusations of children of witchcraft and other aspects that contribute to the breakdown of families.

He made it known that many couples today separate due to different religious beliefs and other allegations, in addition to the violation of divine principles, among other evils that negatively affect communities, hence the need to combat them, educating families about morality and goodness. -be.

The director of the Provincial Office of Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports, Veloso Dala highlighted that the Forum now held is the result of a strategy by leaders and the government, of dialogue on the difficulties and problems of religion and of rapprochement between both parties.

He reiterated the role of the church in promoting good, in solving community problems, within the scope of partnership with the government.

The Forum aimed to promote the interaction of the church with the State, encourage the participation of religious leaders and believers in the political, economic, social and cultural life of the province, as well as the promotion of democracy and sustainable social development.

For a few hours, the event also served as a reflection on the law on freedom of religion and worship, as well as discussion on the proliferation of sects, religious fundamentalism, among other phenomena linked to religion.

Currently the province has 68 legalized religious denominations and 30 yet to be legalized.
