Africa-Press – Angola. The new commander of the Central Military Region (RMC), Lieutenant General Paulo Silva Xavier, defined, on Friday, the strengthening of operational actions to combat the illicit exploitation of strategic minerals, as one of the challenges of his mandate.
The general officer, who was speaking at the closing of the 16th course for specialists in Armored Troops of the Army, two days after having assumed the position of commander of the RMC, said that the Command of this military zone intends to direct efforts in areas with strategic resources of the country, to avoid your mining.
He added that attention will be turned, fundamentally, to the strategic areas of the provinces of Bié, Cuanza Sul and a part of the territory of Huíla, under the jurisdiction of the Central Military Region, specifically, the municipality of Chipindo.
Lieutenant General Paulo Silva Xavier also promised to establish permanent cooperation with the other defense and security bodies in the provinces of Benguela, Bié, Cuanza Sul and Huambo, in the congregation of efforts aimed at guaranteeing the institutional normality of the State and the territorial integrity.
It was also proposed to make an effort to restore the technical park of the Central Military Region, both from the point of view of the technical parking system and the various weapons systems, and in the repair and maintenance of the technical means, which are at hand. disposal of units that, for various reasons, are in a non-permanent state of disuse.
The military official pointed out the satisfaction of the troop, essentially, in terms of social conditions, habitability, barracks, control of the troops and combat preparation, as being the main tasks of the Military Region, as units that make up the second strategic operational echelon of the Superior General Staff, with the mission of preparing for any events that may arise in the future and being ready for combative employment in any direction in the country.
The course, which took place over three months at the School of Driving and Armored Vehicles, located in the communal village of Chipipa, in the municipality of Huambo, was attended by 95 Army soldiers, in the roles of T55-M2 tank commanders, gunners, loaders and mechanic drivers .
Experts from the Instruction and Teaching, Armament and Technique and Combative Preparation departments of the Army were examined, the trainees learned theoretical and practical contents on moral and civic military education, united order, salutes and military honors, rules regulating military discipline, rules and unit services.
The range of subjects includes hygiene and health, first aid, military physical preparation, military topography, biological and chemical nuclear protection, general tactics, transmissions, military engineering, tank fire, preparation of the material park, exploration, evacuation, driving, repair and driving standards for tanks.
