Africa-Press – Angola. The remains of Angolan nationalist Rui Mingas arrive in Luanda this Thursday, where they will be buried the following day in the Alto das Cruzes Cemetery.

Rui Alberto Vieira Dias Rodrigues Mingas passed away last Thursday in Lisbon, Portugal, a victim of illness, at the age of 84.

According to the official funeral program, the urn with the mortal remains of the deceased arrives on Thursday, followed by a motorcade to the Army’s wake room (formerly R20).

The beginning of the funeral ceremony is scheduled for the afternoon, with emphasis on tributes from the National Assembly, the MPLA and the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Youth and Sports and Culture and Tourism.

For Friday, before the urn is lowered into the Alto das Cruzes cemetery, a Mass of the Present Body is scheduled at the Igreja do Carmo, in downtown Luanda.

The army wake room (ex – R20) is reserved for offering condolences to the family, immediately after the burial.

Rui Alberto Vieira Dias Rodrigues Mingas was an Angolan singer, composer, diplomat, businessman and politician.

He was a deputy of the MPLA Parliamentary Group, Secretary with the status of Minister of Sports and ambassador of Angola to Portugal.

On July 26, 1995, he was awarded the degree of Grand Cross of the Order of Infante D. Henrique, of Portugal.

In 2002, he formed a business association with Paulo Múrias and the “Minerva Foundation – Culture – Teaching and Scientific Research”.
