Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan ambassador to South Africa, Rui Xavier, met with authorities in the Northern Cape province to learn about the situation of the Angolan community living there.
During the meeting, held on Saturday, the Angolan diplomat diagnosed the situation of the Angolan community in the towns of Postmasburg, Olifantshoek, Kathu, Upington and Port Nolloth.
Rui Xavier was received by the provincial governor, Zamani Saul, and the municipal administrator of Kathu, Johannes Roman.
A note from the Angolan Embassy in that country states that the Angolan community in South Africa has been repeatedly praised by local authorities for its exemplary conduct, which contributes to strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
The ambassador was accompanied on his working visit by the Angolan Consul General in Cape Town, Elsa Caposso Vicente, who serves that administrative district, and, on the South African side, members of the Provincial Government, Home Affairs and the Department of Economic Development and Police participated in the meeting.
The Consulate General of Angola in Cape Town, the note states, has developed activities aimed at encouraging compliance with migration laws and promoting direct and inclusive involvement of Angolan residents in community tasks.
