Africa-Press – Angola. More than 20 women residing in rural areas were trained on access to land, usufruct of income from work and the creation of agricultural cooperatives.
The training, promoted by the Forum of Women Journalists for Gender Equality (FMJIG), aimed to inform the participants about their rights regarding access to land and about the steps to follow for the legalization of plots of land.
The training, which took place on Friday and Saturday, in the commune of Funda, in the municipality of Cacuaco, was attended by women residing in rural areas of the provinces of Benguela, Cuanza-Sul, Huíla, Huambo and Luanda.
Topics such as “Legalization of land in rural areas”, “Creation and management of agricultural cooperatives”, “Equal opportunities between men and women and its impact on social development”, “Right to land and the economic and social inclusion of women” and “Economic and social inclusion of women, motivation and union of women as a factor of change”.
The coordinator of the Forum of Women Journalists for Gender Equality, Milena Costa, encouraged the participants to share the knowledge gained with other women in their areas of origin.
The FMJIG understands that although the Constitution of the Republic enshrines equal rights for men and women, traditional and patriarchal norms continue to discriminate against women in various matters, including access to land and income from work.
