Africa-Press – Angola. Forward Sabino António, from Moxico’s 3 de Dezembro team, ends his career in the National Amputee Football Team, at the end of the World Cup, which has been taking place since last Friday, in the city of Istanbul, Turkey.

The information was provided, on Monday, by the athlete in the village of Riva, in the district of Beykov, in the north of the province of Istanbul, after the match against Italy, referring to the third and final phase of Group F of the World Cup. .

“I will finish my career after the end of the World Cup. The direction of the Angolan Paralympic Committee asked me to close it after an African or World Cup”, said the forward, 40 years old, without giving further details of the decision.

Sabino admitted that he made friends through football, visited many countries and that he currently depends on himself to survive, despite the disability in his right leg.

“I gained a lot of experience and friendship. Football taught me a lot, if I hadn’t practiced, I don’t know what I would have done. I met many countries”, he said, with a little of his personal life, but with emotion.

The forward made his debut in the National Team, in 2008, during the African Championship, in Liberia, a competition in which the Angolans finished in third place.

With the classification obtained, Angola qualified for the final phase of the 13th edition of the World Cup, held in 2010, in the city of Crespo, Argentina.

With the shirt of the national team, the forward scored 27 goals.

Sabino revealed his interest in attending a technical course and realizing his dream of directing the National Team.

“I want to train as a coach. I have a dream of one day becoming the national coach”, he declared. Despite having announced the end of his career in the National Team, Sabino was recently contacted in Istanbul to represent some Turkish clubs. .

In the history, Sabino became national champion 14 times on the 3rd of December, won a world champion trophy and an African one, competitions held in 2018 and 2019, in the cities of Guadalajara (Mexico) and Benguela (Angola).
