Africa-Press – Angola. Ambassadors from member countries of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) accredited in France analyzed this Wednesday, in Paris, the challenges of Angolan leadership in the regional organization.
The fact was made public in a note from the Angolan diplomatic representation in France.
During the meeting, ambassadors from SADC member states shared the priorities of Angola’s mandate with their peers in the region.
Among these objectives, the commitment to industrial development, regional security, the consolidation of democracy and food self-sufficiency, as pillars of the Angolan mandate, stands out.
During the meeting, topics such as security in northern Mozambique and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), among other topics in the sub-region, were also discussed.
Those present also highlighted the importance of regional cooperation and emphasized the need to raise awareness, in France, of European Union authorities about the crucial issues facing the southern region of Africa.
The initiative aimed to promote greater integration and dialogue between member countries, seeking to find joint solutions to common challenges.
In the end, the ambassadors expressed support for the proposal by Angolan diplomat, Guilhermina Prata, to hold regular meetings to discuss multilateral issues and strengthen cooperation between SADC countries.
Furthermore, the commemoration of March 23, the day of the Liberation of Southern Africa, was discussed, with the Angolan ambassador presenting a proposal to celebrate the date jointly, emphasizing the historical and cultural importance of the event.
Guilhermina Prata also considered the meeting as a significant step in promoting unity and cooperation between SADC countries and demonstrating continued commitment to the development and stability of the sub-region.
The meeting was attended by representatives from 9 of the 13 countries in the region accredited in France, namely Mustaq Moorad (South Africa), Olivier Rajohnson (Botswana), Vijanen Valaydon (Madagascar), Judith Milena (Zambia), Alberto Augusto, (Mozambique), Georges Tirant (Seychelles Islands), Abigail Shoniwa (Zimbabwe), as well as the charge d’affaires of the Republic of Namibia, Edna Stanley.
