Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Public Administration, Labor and Social Security (MAPTSS), Teresa Rodrigues Dias, announced yesterday, in Luanda, the construction, starting this year, of three Regional Centers for Safety and Health at Work (CSST), in the provinces of Cabinda, Huila and Lunda-Sul.

Teresa Rodrigues Dias was speaking during a visit to the Occupational Health and Safety Center, in the municipality of Viana, in the company of the Secretaries of State for Public Administration and Labor and Social Security, Amélia Varela and Pedro Filipe, respectively.

According to Minister Teresa Rodrigues Dias, the construction of the new centers is part of the program to expand Occupational Health and Safety services, defined in the National Development Plan (PDN) 2023-2027.

“Because we have only one center, in Luanda, to serve the country, we think it is necessary to expand these services to other provinces”, he justified.

He added that the three centers will serve the surrounding provinces, which still do not have diagnostic and prevention services for occupational diseases.

Teresa Rodrigues Dias highlighted the importance of SSTCs in improving the quality of life of workers and companies.

The minister warned that companies that do not adhere to the services of the CSST are infringing and should seek to regularize the situation, especially those whose activity is critical in terms of occupational diseases, specifically mining companies and those exposed to dust and noise.

Also during the visit, Teresa Rodrigues Dias recommended to those responsible for the Center for Safety and Health at Work in Viana to improve the provision of services, to continue to guarantee the well-being of workers.

Minister Teresa Rodrigues Dias also paid a brief visit to the Professional Training and Rehabilitation Center in Viana, to learn about its operation and main difficulties.

It should be noted that the Occupational Health and Safety Center is a unit under the supervision of the General Labor Inspectorate (IGT).
