Africa-Press – Angola. Inspectors, producers and managers of salt production units, in the province of Bengo, are being trained, starting monday, in Caxito, on salt iodization and good hygiene practices in salt factories.

Lasting five days, the meeting aims to address irregularities detected in a study on iodine in salt consumed by the population.

The training is promoted by the Ministry of Fisheries and is part of the National Salt Iodization Program in Angola.

Speaking to the press, the technician from the National Directorate of Quality Management and Salt Production of the Ministry of Fisheries, Osvaldo Costa, informed that the training aims to standardize salt iodization standards or formulas in all salt pans and teach conservation methods. with best practice methodology and techniques.

The first day, participants are learning how to interpret iodine test results, the importance of the association for raising awareness among salt producers, benefits and good hygiene practices in production units.

Similar trainings have already been carried out in the provinces of Benguela, Namibe and Cuanza Sul.

The salt sector in the province of Bengo controls five producers. Three in the municipality of Dande and two in Ambriz.
