Africa-Press – Angola. About 70 retired general officers and admirals were honored Friday, in Luanda, in a ceremony led by the head of the General Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), aviation general Altino dos Santos.
The act, which took place on the former RI-20, was limited to the reading of the order of the Commander-in-Chief of the FAA on the transition from active military service to retirement and the delivery of certificates of merit and medals to officers, in recognition of the his contribution to the Armed Forces and to the Homeland in general.
When intervening in the act, Altino dos Santos began by expressing a feeling of gratitude and highlighted the decisive role of those who, “as sons of the Fatherland, played in the fulfillment of complex missions, some of which were high risk, in favor of the defense of national independence, sovereignty, peace and territorial integrity”.
He reiterated that the FAA will continue to rely on their contribution on other fronts, especially in military academies and institutes, to transmit to new generations, among other matters, combat traditions, the stories of the battles fought in Angola, lessons on military virtues and values .
“You must, in civil society, continue to transmit examples of courage and resilience in the face of the difficulties that the country is still going through, as it was precisely in this trajectory of various constraints that you were able to achieve important victories on the battlefields, which allowed you to conquer and preserve the independence, consolidate peace and the process of national reconciliation, indispensable premises for leveraging the country’s sustainable socio-economic movement”, he said.
According to the head of the General Staff of the FAA, the fact that general officers and admirals are at the end of their military careers should not mean that they are abandoned or forgotten by the institution that they served in an exemplary way over many decades.
Admiral Lando Vipé, who was responsible for reading the message from the retired officers, said it was with satisfaction and a feeling of accomplishment that the group leaves the Armed Forces, as it was part of a generation that was very committed to the values of the country.
He emphasized that serving the Nation over the years with courage, determination, diligence and strict discipline was and will continue to be the greatest pride of this generation.
He expressed the availability of the group to continue making its contribution to the aggrandizement of the country wherever necessary.
Other retirees include António dos Santos “Patónio”, former chief judge of the military court, Mateus Miguel Ângelo “Vietnam”, former head of the Army General Staff, Hugo dos Passos, former head of the main directorate of staff, and João Miguel Martinho, former director of the Military Judicial Police (PJM).
Five others deserved posthumous distincThe team from São Salvador do Kongo was crowned (Friday), in the city of Ndalatando, champion of the second division of national football season ‘2023, by beating União de Malanje, by 2-1, in a disputed game at the Dinises stadium, in the province of Cuanza Norte.
The goals of the match, which pitted the two triumphant teams in groups A and B of the qualification zone for the National Championship (Girabola2023/24), were scored by Silva (18′) and Polaco (90′), discounted by Adilson (38′ ).

To occupy the third vacancy of Girabola2023/24, Kabuscorp do Palanca defeated, with some difficulty, Ferrovia do Huambo, by 3-2, in a “liguilha” game, Thursday, at the same field in Cuanza Norte.
Without being able to qualify directly in Group A of the zonal, the Palanquina team from Luanda managed the feat, with goals from Tchubila (11′, penalty, and 84′) and Didié (90+6), discounted by the railway Gaio (44′ and 69’).
With this result, found in the last minutes of the challenge, very close due to the persistent equality, Kabuscorp joins the team of São Salvador do Kongo from the province of Zaire and the União de Malanje, the three of them going to the next meeting the big ones.
Remember, Sporting de Benguela (14th place, with 17 points), ASK Dragão (15th, with 13 points) and Cuando Cubango (16th with 00, after withdrawing due to lack of funds) were relegated from division in Girabola2022/23. The National Championship was won by Petro de Luanda.
