Africa-Press – Angola. The Secretary of State for Energy, António da Costa, is working, in the municipality of Saurimo, province of Lunda Sul, to verify the progress of the various projects linked to the sector and the situation of the production and distribution of electricity in the region.
António Belsa da Costa held a meeting with the deputy governor for the Technical and Infrastructure sector, Cláudio Pemessa, then visited the photovoltaic power plant, Nhama power plant, Txicumina and ABC, on the outskirts of the city of Saurimo.
Speaking to the press, at the end of the visit made by the Secretary of State for Energy, António da Costa, the regional director of Prodel, Mateus Muteka, said that the official recognized that the sector is struggling with a lack of financial resources to carry out some projects in the country.
He made it known that anomalies were still identified in the normal energy supply, due to the degradation of the mechanical part of some generator sets that need revisions, but there were guarantees that the equipment to replace the already obsolete ones in the Nhama and Txicumina power stations will soon arrive in the province .
“The constant rainfall that the province has been registering and the internal breakdowns of the generator sets are at the root of these problems, which have caused interruptions in some neighborhoods of the city”, he said.
To counteract this situation, the management will install OP systems, in order to reduce the impact of rain on the power plants, with the possibility of a short circuit, but the general circuit will continue to function normally.
Mateus Muteka said that Lunda Sul is well served in terms of fuel, as it has an average autonomy of around seven to eight days, compared to other times.
Currently, with more than 20,000 controlled customers, 335 of which are part of the prepaid system, ENDE in Lunda Sul has 40 megawatts of energy available.
