Senegal ends Pre-Olympics with victory

Africa-Press – Angola. The Senegal women’s team ended the Pre-Olympic handball tournament with victory by beating Congo, 27-22, in the 3rd and final round of the competition that ends this Saturday, at the Kilamba pavilion, in Luanda.

In the confrontation between these teams, with no chance of reaching the Olympic Games in France in 2024, Senegal was already leading at half-time, 16-13.

Soukeina Sagna, from Senegal, with eleven goals, was named the most valuable player of the match (MVP).

In the first round, Senegal lost to Angola, 22-21, and in the second, 15-17, to Cameroon.

Congo, on its debut, drew 21 goals with Cameroon and lost significantly to Angola, 30-15.

With this result, Segal finishes in third place with two points, against one from the opponent, in fourth and red light.

At this moment, Angola and Cameroon face each other for the title.

The first position guarantees direct access to the Olympic Games, while the second for a qualifying “play-offs” with European opponents, to be played next year.

The Angolans lead with 4 points, followed by the Cameroonians with one less.
