Africa-Press – Angola. The National Fuel Society of Angola (Sonangol) is considering exiting the oil exploration business in Iraq and Venezuela, according to the chairman of the Board of Directors of the largest state-owned company.
According to Sebastião Gaspar Martins, Sonangol is finding it difficult to conduct operations in both countries. In relation to São Tomé and Príncipe, he explained that the company will change from being a distributor of refined products to entering the exploration activity.
“In Iraq, what we are doing is an assessment much closer to reality to see if it justifies our continuity or if we abandon that locality”, he said, quoted today .
In Venezuela, he revealed, “it’s more or less on the same terms although it has a slightly more peaceful situation”, adding that in economic terms it is an operation that also becomes difficult to conduct in a calm way.
