Africa-Press – Angola. Sonangol saved US$281 million in imports of refined products, in the fourth quarter of 2022, by reducing the volume of purchases of diesel and gasoline abroad.

The national oil company, in the fourth quarter of 2022, imported 701 thousand metric tons of refined products, with a decrease of 174 thousand metric tons (MT), compared to the third quarter.

Of the volume of imports of refined products, Sonangol spent US$717 million, US$281 million less than in the previous period, according to data provided by the chairman of the Executive Committee of the Trading and Shipping Business Unit , Luis Manuel.

In the same period, 201 thousand metric tons were exported in terms of refined products, including LPG (natural gas), which resulted in a gross value of 117 million dollars.

Compared to the third quarter of 2022, 82 thousand metric tons less were exported, which negatively influenced gross revenue by less USD 72 million.

According to the official, Sonangol sold 35.4 million barrels of crude oil in the fourth quarter of 2022, six million barrels less compared to the previous period, resulting in gross revenue of US$3.76 billion .

In relation to the gross volume recorded in terms of revenue, the oil company cashed in less than one billion US dollars, due to the reduction in the amount of crude oil exported.

Daily sales and average price also reduced by around 66 thousand barrels of oil day (BPD) and USD 15, respectively.

Of the sales made, the National Oil and Gas Agency (ANPG) had 20.7 million barrels and Sonangol with 14.6 million barrels.

Compared to the volumes sold by ANPG and Sonangol, in the third quarter, the National Concessionaire registered a reduction of six million barrels, while the oil company obtained an increase of 339 thousand barrels.
