Africa-Press – Angola. Sporting de Luanda on Sunday won for the first time in its history the National Senior Women”s Basketball Championship “Liga Azule”, after beating 1.o de Agosto by 93-88.
In the third game of the play-offs, the best of five, played at the Kilamba pavilion in Luanda, it took two overtimes (74-74 and 82-82) for the lions to win the cup.
Those led by Ângela Cardoso won 3-0 (broom), after previous victories of 56-40, in the first challenge, and 54-52, in the second.
Chanayma Pinto, from Sporting de Luanda, was the top scorer, with 39 pts, followed by her teammate, Denise Pascoal, with 24.
The Interclube team, eliminated in the semi-finals by 1° de Agosto, is the most titled with 17 trophies, while the “military” have 14.
