Around 30 million kwanzas were mobilized for the attribution of prizes to the winners of three categories of the 2nd edition of “Angola Startup Summer”, announced yesterday, in Luanda, the national director for Economy and Business Development of the Ministry of Economics and Planning (MEP), Nédio dos Santos.

Speaking to the press, after the ribbon-cutting by the Minister of Economy and Planning, the director said that the prizes were for the categories of “MEP challenge”, “BCI Challenge” and “GPL Challenge”, with 10 million kwanzas for each category.

He explained that the three initiatives, MEP Challenge – consists of a solution for restoration, which allows access to the bar code, GPL Challenge, whose challenge consists of a solution for parking in the country’s capital and BCI agri-business, aimed at solutions for agribusiness and monitoring the start-up until maturity.

He said that on the Executive side there is a set of incentives that startups can have. “We also bring the public entity to help formalize the economic activity”, he stressed.

The event brings together companies, government institutions, accelerators, incubators, co-working, universities, investors and other players in the startup ecosystem in the same space.

The 2nd edition of Angola Startup Summer, which runs from the 27th to the 29th of April under the motto “Innovation and technology as vectors for the size of startups in Angola”, will present financing instruments that are adjustable to the needs of companies of this nature, taking into account the different stages they are in.

The event held by the Ministry of Economy and Planning, in partnership with Eventos Arena, takes place at the Instituto Superior Politécnico de Tecnologias e Ciências (ISPTEC).

It aims to maintain and encourage the emergence of new startups, through the exchange of experiences, doing business, as well as cooperation with university institutions, potential investors, accelerators and incubators.
