State Minister represents PR at Korea-Africa Summit 2024

Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of State for Economic Coordination, José de Lima Massano, represented the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, at the Korea-Africa Summit 2024 which took place, from 4 to 5 this month, in Seoul, capital of the Republic of Korea.

According to a press release, the summit served to strengthen and strengthen ties between the home continent and the South Korean country, through the adoption of a strategy of shared, supportive and sustainable growth.

Angola was formally invited to participate in the event whose main objective was to deepen friendship and cooperation relations focused on economic diplomacy, with the aim of ensuring the development of both parties.

In this first multilateral conference between Koreans and Africans, representatives from 48 African countries and four regional organizations on the continent were present, with emphasis on the African Union (AU) and the African Development Bank and, in addition to the host president, and 25 other heads of African states.

The event was co-chaired by the South Korean president, Yoon Suk Yeol, and the Mauritanian president, Mohamed AI-Ghazouani, who currently holds the leadership of the AU.

In his intervention, José Massano highlighted the good friendly relations that exist between Angola and the Republic of Korea, reinforced with the signing, 30 years ago, of the first General Agreement on Economic, Technical and Scientific Cooperation.

He presented the economic potential of Angola, which he claimed to have a land full of countless natural resources, as well as the measures that have been implemented by the Angolan government, with a view to diversifying the Angolan economy.
