Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Foreign minister, Téte António, on Monday (1st), in Luanda, represented the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, at the 8th Extraordinary Session of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS).

According to a note, the meeting was held virtually, from Malabo, chaired by the President of Equatorial Guinea and the acting leader of ECCAS, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.

In general, the summit analyzed the political and security situation in the Central African region, which remains complex, with a record of peace progress, persistent conflicts, humanitarian crises and political tensions.

Based on discussions held this afternoon in Malabo, the political and security situation in Central Africa remains fragile and volatile, especially in the Central African Republic, as well as in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Although there are concrete efforts toward peace and disarmament, informal armed forces, the struggle for territory and resources, interference from external actors, and the depth of the humanitarian crisis continues to undermine lasting peace.

However, in addition to the host, the meeting was attended by the president of the republic of São Tomé and Príncipe, Carlos Manuel Vila Nova, the president of Gabon, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, the prime minister of Burundi, Prosper Bazombanza, the prime minister of the Republic of Congo, Anatole Collinet Makosso, the prime minister of Cameroon, Joseph Dion Ngute, representing their Heads of State, as well as the current chairman of the Economic Community of Central African States Commission, Ezéchiel Nibigira.
