TAAG signs agreement for engine management and maintenance

Africa-Press – Angola. TAAG Linhas Aéreas de Angola and RTX Pratt & Whitney Canada have signed an engine maintenance agreement, valid for six years, the Angolan carrier reports this Thursday.

The agreement is for 13 PW150A engines and another spare kept in inventory, according to a note from the national carrier arrived.

It consists of a Fleet Management Program (FMPTM) that allows Pratt and Whitney to customize its offering to meet TAAG’s specific operational context.

Quoted in the note, the president of the TAAG Executive Committee, Nelson de Oliveira, considered Pratt & Whitney Canada’s FMP program functional for TAAG, having expressed confidence in the proven experience of the engine manufacturer/OEM to guarantee maximum productivity and efficiency of the Angolan carrier’s PW150A engines.

He noted that the Dash 8-400 aircraft, equipped with the PW150A engine, perfectly suits the needs, having a capacity of around 75 passengers, high fuel efficiency and general reliability.

For her part, Irene Makris, vice-president of sales and marketing at Pratt & Whitney Canada, stated that TAAG is an airline that plays a key role nationally and internationally, serving Angola and beyond.

In his opinion, “airlines that provide regional connectivity, such as TAAG, play a vital role in facilitating passenger mobility to large urban centers and international destinations”.

The FMP package acquired by TAAG includes Pratt & Whitney’s fuel analysis technology, the FASTTM diagnostic and prognostic solution that wirelessly records, analyzes and sends all flight data intelligence immediately after turning off the motor.

The PW100/PW150 engines power 90% of regional turboprop aircraft with 30 to 90 passengers operating today. Turboprop engines consume between 25 to 40% less fuel and produce 50% fewer CO2 emissions than similarly sized regional jets.
